What we see on Middleton slabs

Middleton is an established suburb, and most of its garages are the age of the neighborhood around them. That means a great many slabs poured in the sixties through the eighties: structurally sound, still flat, but tired on the surface — worn, oil-marked, dusting when you sweep. That is close to the ideal candidate. The surface wear grinds off and takes the staining with it, and what is left underneath is good concrete that has simply never had anything protecting it.

These are well-kept properties where the garage is usually visible from the drive and often attached to the house. On a floor people see, the finish matters as much as the durability, and a full flake broadcast is what keeps it looking even day to day instead of showing every drip.

What We Install

Which system suits Middleton

We install full-flake epoxy and full-flake polyurea and we don't have a house favorite. What tips it one way or the other is usually local.

Attached and heated is the norm here, so epoxy is a real option and often the better value on a dry slab. If the garage is detached, or you would rather not lose the space for as long, polyurea is the answer.

Middleton Questions

What people ask us in Middleton

My slab is from the seventies and the surface is dusting. Is that a problem?

That is a good sign, not a bad one. Dusting is the weak top layer of the concrete giving up, and diamond grinding removes exactly that layer to reach the sound concrete underneath. A slab that dusts is usually a better candidate than one that has been sealed with something that now has to come off.

How far is Middleton from you?

About fifty-five miles from our shop in Mauston, which is inside our normal service area — closer, in fact, than several places we go on the La Crosse side. There is no travel charge.

Which towns nearby do you cover?

Cross Plains, Black Earth and Mazomanie, along with Middleton itself and the properties out along the valley between them.

What does a garage floor coating cost in Middleton?

Epoxy is $5 to $7 per square foot and polyurea $6 to $9, all preparation included. A worn but structurally sound Middleton slab is a straightforward job — the surface grinds off and there is good concrete underneath — so those tend not to sit at the top of the range.

Can the floor be matched to the rest of the house?

Within reason. The flake blends come in a range and you choose the one you like, with no price difference between them. On a garage that is visibly part of the house it is worth seeing a blend laid down rather than photographed, and we will show you that at the walkthrough.
